We Believe that...

Quality of life is as important as length of life

Every moment is precious

Every day can be a gift

"Freedom from pain" and "death with dignity" are both attainable goals

A measure of peace can be part of the dying process

The Truth About Hospice Care

Hospice is not a place, it is a concept of care.

Patients can remain in their own homes. Hospice care is provided wherever the patient lives, whether it’s in their own private residence, nursing home or assisted living facility.

Most hospice patients remain in their own homes, however, during a medical crisis or for a five day respite period every sixty or ninety days, a patient may go to an inpatient hospice facility. Weinstein Hospice has a contract with Hospice Atlanta to provide inpatient acute or respite services when the patient meets the medical criteria.

Hospice honors nature’s way and does not hasten or prolong the dying process.

If at anytime the patient’s condition improves or they decide to pursue aggressive treatment, the patient can be discharged from hospice.

The patient can continue seeing their physician who manages care in coordination with the Hospice Medical Director and nurses.

At any time during a life-limiting illness, it’s appropriate for physicians to discuss all of a patient’s care options, including Hospice.

Hospice considers helping family members an essential part of its mission.

Social Workers and volunteers offer bereavement support for a year following the death of a loved one.

Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private health insurance policies.
