Our Director, Clinical Staff  and Board of Directors members all believe wholeheartedly in the power of the individual, the importance of relationships and the value of respect and dignity to everyone at every stage of life. Our goal is to create a positive difference in every patient’s day, to make a personal connection and to create memorable moments that enrich the lives of each of our patients while providing end of life care at home.

Talya Bloom

Executive Director

has been Executive Director of Weinstein Hospice since 2002. Her 42 years of nursing experience in the United States and her native South Africa has taught her that the patient, not the healthcare system is what’s most important. Full bio

Alex Rikhter

MD Medical Director

has been the Medical Director of Weinstein Hospice since 2011. He scored in top 3% of all American Internists on the Board of Internal Medicine exam. Dr. Rikhter enjoys unshakable patient loyalty and respect. Full bio

Cory Shaw

Business Manager

has been a team member since 2012. Her responsibilities include executing fundraising and marketing plans as well as managing office needs for our 25 person clinical staff.

Teresa Meehan

RN, CHPN Director of Nursing

has been working with Weinstein Hospice since 2010. Her 35 years of experience includes work as a nurse educator for Hospice Atlanta, CCU charge nurse, dialysis nursing, and nursing in an ICU. She is certified in hospice and palliative care nursing.

Patty Brennen

AGPCNP-BC Nurse Practitioner

Since 1997, Patty has worked as a NP for United Health Care in a variety of clinical roles which included providing care at The William Breman Jewish Home for many years. She received a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University.

Jenny Buckley

RN, BSN, CHPN Community Outreach Coordinator

She has been a team member for 5 years. Jenny takes pride in being part of a quality hospice program that provides outstanding patient and family care. She is ELNEC certified and twice certified in hospice and palliative care.

Deb Mahovlich

RN Patient Care Coordinator

She has been a team member for 2 years. Debbie has been a nurse for 40 years. She has been a hospice nurse for 15 years. She is originally from Vancouver, Canada.

Susan Sandler

MSW Social Work Coordinator

has been Manager of Psycho-Social Services with Weinstein Hospice since 2006. She was the Executive Director of JF&CS in Des Moines, Iowa for 8 years and has run Senior Outreach programming in Dallas, Texas.

Jenifer Firestone

LMSW Volunteer Coordinator

on staff since 2012. Jenifer manages a corps of nearly 40 volunteers who serve our patients and their families with quality care, understanding and compassion.

Donna Faye Marcus

Cantor, Chaplain/ Bereavement Coordinator

She completed a three-year chaplaincy internship at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York City. Using the gift of song, she is able to provide spiritual healing to those experiencing pain or anxiety.

Deanna Lawrence


joined the team way back in 2004! She has spent most of that time as a certified hospice and palliative care nursing assistant. In late 2015, we were thrilled when she transitioned to the office as our referrals and intake coordinator.

Nolan Teter


He is a Certified Hospice Palliative Care RN and has been on staff with Weinstein Hospice for 5-1/2 years of his 14 year nursing career.

Julie Hamilton


has been a dedicated member of the Weinstein Hospice staff since 2008.

Helen Boyce


is one of our on-call nurses and has been part of the team since 2012. She also works as an RN on the staff of the William Breman Jewish Home.

Cheryl O’Neal


has been a part of the team since 2014. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her new puppy!

Irina Dubin


has been a Registered Nurse since 1998 after attending New York University. She joined our staff in early 2015. Irina speaks fluent Russian enabling her to have a special rapport with our Russian-speaking patients.

Amanda Robinson


is a Registered Nurse and has been with Weinstein Hospice since May of 2015. She graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2005 and is a native of Georgia. She enjoys weekend travels with her papillon Pumpkin, gardening and bird watching.

Melissa Yashinsky


was with Weinstein Hospice earlier in her career (2004-2006). After 10 years with Georgia Cancer Specialists, she has returned to us at the start of 2017. We’re thrilled to have her back!

Connie Caird


has been with Weinstein Hospice since early 2015. She is a certified hospice and palliative care LPN. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Carla Polikov


comes to us with more than 12 years of hospice and other medical social work experience. She received her Master’s degree in social work from Tulane, but is originally from Mississippi. Carla is married and is mom to two adorable children.

Glenna Hornstein


received her Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University and has been a social worker for 26 years. Glenna and her husband moved to Georgia 3-1/2 years ago. She is a mother and grandmother and has a cat named Max. She enjoys baking in her spare time.

Susan Kolevsohn

Clinical Admin Assistant

began as a volunteer in our office and transitioned to providing administrative support as well as managing and reporting quality assurance measures which help ensure a consistently high level of care for our patients.

Kathy Swartz

Medical Records Administrator

the newest member of the Weinstein Hospice team. She came on board as a volunteer, then to a staff part-time position and now is a full time employee to the medical records department. Her sister Jenifer Firestone is our Volunteer Coordinator/MSW.

Haregewine Huluka


Haregewine joined the Weinstein Hospice staff in late 2015, but she’s no stranger to Jewish Home Life Communities! Prior to 2015, she worked on the staff of the William Breman Jewish Home for 12 years.

Natashia Simpson


Natashia has been a CNA for 15 years. She began working with Jewish Home Life Communities in 2014 and joined the Weinstein Hospice team in October 2015.
