Screening of PBS’s FRONTLINE film, “Being Mortal”

Screening of PBS's FRONTLINE film, 'Being Mortal'

Weinstein Hospice and Jewish Home Life Communities will host a screening of PBS’s FRONTLINE film, “Being Mortal” on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 6:00 pm in Srochi Hall at the William Breman Jewish Home. Watch the trailer Seventy percent of Americans say they would prefer to die at home, but nearly 70 percent die in hospitals and institutions. Ninety percent of Americans know they should have conversations about end-of-life care, yet only 30 percent have done so.

The purpose of the screenings are to educate audiences and encourage people to take concrete steps to identify and communicate their wishes for end-of-life care. The screening will be followed by a guided discussion. Aired on PBS in February 2015, “Being Mortal” follows physician Atul Gawande as he thinks about death and dying in the context of being a healer. The renowned writer and Boston surgeon shares stories about experiences at the end of life from patients and his own family. Dr. Gawande published a national bestselling book by the same name. The Harman Foundation was an underwriter of the FRONTLINE film.
